and headed east with the boombox

burritos, bras, even a new laptop

heaping cones outside outer Bowser
(I dared to pick up my Rolo chunk
and caught a falling caramel hunk)
found grasslands down that road
then the habitat path to the lake
childhood stuff in the tall reeds
crouching low, mouth clamped shut
Mediterranean pizza and spinach pie
